IronStone Bank to Sponsor Community Shred Day in Alpharetta
Free event to help residents protect against identity theft
April 25, 2006

ALPHARETTA, Ga.– IronStone Bank will sponsor a Community Shred Day on Saturday, May 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the bank’s North Point office at 10865 Haynes Bridge Road (770.777.8960), Alpharetta. IronStone is teaming with ShredFirst, one of the largest document destruction companies in the nation, to destroy unwanted sensitive materials free of charge .
“At IronStone Bank, one of our highest priorities is protecting our customers’ personal information; now, we want to help Alpharetta residents safeguard their vital information,” said Neil Stevens, the bank’s Georgia area executive. “With identity theft on the rise nationwide, the destruction and disposal of secure documents has never been more important. We’re pleased we can provide this important service.”
A mobile on-site shred truck will be parked outside the branch. Bank associates will also be on hand to provide information about protecting personal information and offer refreshments. The event will be held rain or shine. All participants will be asked to register for a prize drawing of a personal shredder.
Residents are invited to bring old documents such as ATM receipts, checks, tax information, credit card statements, copies of bills, mail and other papers containing personal information that could provide thieves an easy way to steal money or an identity. Dry paper only will be accepted (no plastics, media tapes or cardboard). There is no need to remove staples, paper clips and other bindings and colors do not have to be separated. All materials should be in boxes and containers for quick, easy disposal. Destroying documents by shredding them into unrecognizable pieces is the safest way to dispose of unwanted materials and provides greater protection against crime. Identity theft is one of the fastest growing forms of consumer fraud in the United States.
